Reduce conflict in your organisation or between organisations
Conflict
often arises out of misinterpreting each other’s needs. NLP offers a series
of techniques which have been modeled for both the
business environment and in politics.
Conflict resolution services for
business and communities using techniques based on Dr. Richard Bolstad’s work Transforming
Communications.
Learn to resolve your own
conflicts, achieving win-win outcomes
Learn how to develop rapport with
Learn how to find out what needs
and values really do matter so you can gain the outcomes you want
Learn how to communicate what
really matters to you and gain clarity on issues
Learn how to appreciate other
people’s viewpoints and let them know you value their position
These
techniques have been used to resolve violence in Northern Ireland and also for the Oslo Peace Talks
which achieved a peace plan for Israel in the 1990s.
Pacific Communication
Pacific
communication is a training course run to integrate and reduce conflict
within or between organizations.
It is
based on Dr. Richard Bolstad’s Transforming Communication course but is tailor made to deal with
any issues involving your organisation.
The
course basically consists of these six steps:
Putting people in an environment
where they agree that the outcome is in their best interests, ie. a peaceful community/functioning democracy
Banning any conversation on
contentious issues - enabling people to talk without fighting (in Northern
Island, people were banned from talking religion and politics)
Over time people begin talking about things like family and common problems -
this builds up a sense of community and a shared identity.
While this process is occurring,
people learn reflective listening skills. Reflective listening is extremely
important since it enables the speaker to feel like their opinions are being
heard, which makes them less inclined to use more dramatic forms of
communication (shouting, protests, demonstrations or violence) and the person
who does the listening, is reflecting what the speaker is saying first can
check that they understand the speaker correctly, and secondly by
understanding and repeating what the speaker is saying gets to emphasise much
more. Furthermore, when the speaker hears that he/she has been understood,
the speaker agrees, so that instead of emphasising difference, reflective
listening enables people to develop closeness.
Once people have developed a
strong sense of rapport and understanding, it is then possible to move onto
the next stage of relationship development which is teaching people how to
communicate their needs without threatening other people. These are
technically known as "I messages".
Once all of these techniques have
been taught and people think more in terms of the community as an integrated
structure, then it becomes possible to resolve outstanding issues
